IBBS 2018 is a focused business event bringing together the top ‘Corporate Heads’ to discuss “ease of doing business” and “avenues for investment for Indo-British Investors”. The summit is one of its kind organized for the first time in Hyderabad, India.
Association of British Scholars: ABS, a national forum, is organizing the summit to strengthen ‘Business relationship’ between the two nations. ABS has of over 300 scholars from India who have gained valuable international exposure and expertise in the United Kingdom. It aims to strengthen the Indo-UK relationship by harnessing the resources, expertise and potential of every ABS chapter through networking, sharing information and hosting social, cultural and intellectual activities.
India is among the top three major investors in U.K. economy generating billions of pounds and valuable jobs. The British government has chosen India as one of its most influential trade partners because it is one of the "fastest growing economies in the world.” India set up 127 new projects in Britain last year and as a result, safeguarded 7,645 existing jobs and created 3,999 new jobs in 2016-17.
Between 2000 and 2016, UK invested $24.07 billion in India, increasing its investment by $1.87 billion between 2015 and 2016 – representing 8% of all foreign direct investment (FDI) into the country. Between 2000 and 2016, British FDI created 371,000 jobs – 10% of all jobs created by FDI. The total number of people employed by British companies in India currently stand at 788,000 – representing 5.3%, or one in twenty, of private sector jobs.
There is a great business potential to inculcate excellence in entrepreneurship between India and United Kingdom at all levels and specially to promote more opportunities for budding entrepreneurs and SMEs.
